We found another place where crowds gather to fly kites in Singapore a few weeks ago. It is the Marina Barrage, Singapore’s 15th reservoir. Over there, we enjoy good view of the surroundings too including the up and coming Integrated Resorts, Singapore River and reservoir. It was also an educational trip as the boys learn about Singapore’s efforts towards environmental sustainability from the Sustainable Singapore Gallery (SSG).
In fact, the place is very packed over the weekends!
Marina Barrage - Bustling with youth activities
The vast amount of water at the barrage is not able to reduce the heat on the hot and sunny day
Large water play area!
A good view of Singapore's icons. The Singapore flyer in the background and Merlion is on the left (cannot see from the picture).
Better view of the ground for kite flying
I wonder where to buy this long string of kites?
Posing despite the heat
The construction of the much awaited for Integrated Resorts is in the background
Beautiful scenery. Can imagine the cool breeze or even strong wind in the evening
Wow! So many recycled plastic bottles. Hmm...good idea for design? The last time I saw another good piece of work was the use of recycled plastic bottles to form a big X'mas tree in Singapore Night Safari.
