Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration
Today is Mid-Autumn Festival for the Chinese. On this day or even days before, things not to be missed are definitely the mooncakes and lanterns for kids. Hmmm… and my family loves the durian snowskin mooncakes.
We did not manage to proceed with our original plan to let the boys join the other kids in carrying their lanterns around the estate as it was raining:( Fortunately, we had an enjoyable Mid-Autumn Festival gathering a day earlier at Darren’s school. It is good that schools nowadays are organising such gathering events for parents because it is not only a good moment of interaction among parents and teachers, it is also a good bonding moment for parents and their children.
There was interesting mooncake making demonstration session by the teachers. The children also experimented hands on experience on the making of mooncakes:).
Dinner was an enjoyment with different varieties of food contributed by the parents:)
The most enjoyable moments for my boys were definitely the “free and easy moment” of playing in the gym area. Brendan always likes to visit Darren’s school mainly due to this area. It is a a joy seeing all the kids playing together carefreely here.
The most exciting moment for some parents and children was of course the judging of the winning lantern, being the joint effort of parents and their kids. This is a good activity which encourages creativity and teamwork of mommy/daddy and child.
The boys did not really understand why but they were excited with being able to parade their lit up and musical lanterns and walk around the estate with the other kids and parents.
It was an evening well-spent:)
This sounds really interesting. The pictures look fantastic like it was all a bunch of fun and enjoyment!
