The Movie - Avatar
Lately, our family has been renting DVDs to watch at home, instead of going to the cinema. Reasons being Darren can get quite restless and movie tickets can be really expensive nowadays. It is true that we will have to wait a while before the DVDs are released in the market but at least we can watch the movies in the comfort of home, and yes…at our own pace (especially with kids around).
However, when it comes to enjoying the special effects of certain movies eg. 2012 and Avatar, we will still gladly make our way to the cinema to enjoy the big screen and….yum yum…nachos and popcorns:)
So….recently, we went to watch AVATAR . Yes, and my recommendation is - MUST WATCH the 3D version. Slightly more costly here but the effects are definitely worth it!
Written and directed by well-known James Cameron, I must say the story line and effects are so breathtaking that even our “usually restless” Darren did not even move an inch throughout the whole movie. I am not exagerating and he was glued to his seat, with his huge 3D spectacles, and at the end of the lengthly 160-minute movie, he exclaimed :” Mommy, this show really very nice!”. Brendan was asking :”Is there really such a place call “Pandora” and I like the movie!”
And ….our reviews are definitely clearly that it is a worth watching Mega Movie. The kids’ expressions and comments have said it all!
In Avatar, the special effects are awesome and the special relationships developed between the lead characters and the indigenous people warm my heart. So…looking for past time or a movie to watch? Why not, head for the cinema now to enjoy Avatar? However, if you are watching with young kids, parental guidance is needed, and remember to tell the kids that the special stunts are NOT REAL and NOT TO BE IMITATED.
Enjoy your weekends and this movie trailer!
I watched it in 3D too and I would definitely recommend it! It’s just amazing visually. The story reminds me of Dances with Wolves with Kevin Costner, but overall, it’s very original and highly entertaining for all ages.
(James Cameron didn’t make Spiderman and Rambo - he just wrote draft stories)
That is really an amazing movie. It is closely related to biology and gnome my favorite subjects.
My hubby has been saying he wanted to bring Isaac to watch this movie but I was rather apprehensive as to whether this is suitable for a 4-yr-old boy… The faces look quite scary to me…
Will go find out more about this movie. Thanks for sharing.
hvn’t watch movies for quite some time already
This looks like an awesome movie! My older boys would probably enjoy this. Thank you for sharing your review.
My hubby watched this online last night, and he said, it was long but a great movie, I was too tired to watch with him, maybe when it’s out on DVD I will rent it out. Maybe by kids will love it..
Great outing for a great movie:)
Merry Chritmas and Happy New Year to you and your beloved family!
Avatar’s good huh? We watched 2012 last w/end. Wasn’t that great. Too predictably dramatic. :D Will probably go for Avatar next.
I watched the 3-D version of the movie the other night. The theater was packed. The young audience and the young at heart all enjoyed it. The kids were even clapping their hands and cheering for the heroes toward the end of the movie.
Parental guidance is very important for kids. I remembered when I was a child, I have 100% belief that wearing a superman suit can make you fly. Thank God my parents never bought any of those suit for us. Or else I might not be blogging right now :)
Hi All - Thanks for your comments.
Ing - Perhaps, you can let Isaac to view the trailer first before deciding whether to bring him there. If he is scared, then don’t bring him because the movie is long and you might have a long time to manage his emotion if you proceed. As I have mentioned, parental guidance is definitely needed because of some stunts that kids might wrongly imitate. Throughout the show, I kept telling the boys that certain stunts are not real and certain actions are dangerous because I feel that it is our responsibility to convey the message correctly to the kids.
VS- Totally agree with you over the importance of parental guidance.
Resources like the one you mentioned here will be very useful to me! I will post a link to this page on my blog. I am sure my visitors will find that very useful.
