Talking about Lunar New Year……..For the last 3 years, we have spent the “before” and “first part of Lunar New Year” overseas either in Hong Kong or Malaysia.  Others joked that we are trying to avoid giving red packets or ang baos.  This is definitely not the case because we still visit our relatives and friends in the remaining of the 15th day of Lunar New Year, red packets are still prepared and several reunion sessions still take place.

The fact is when we have close relatives spread in different parts of the world, paying them a visit during Lunar New Year becomes common. And when the best time for my family to take a short break overseas is usually during the festive occasions …..especially without having to be disturbed by Papa Ed’s overseas job commitment…

One word I would like to use to describe this year’s Lunar New Year is “RUSHING“!  This year’s Lunar New Year is like the last 2 years, somehow “HAPPENING” and “OCCUPIED”.  After rushing home from our little visit to China,  we had to rush through our home spring cleaning. THEN we drove a long distance to Malaysia before the Lunar New Year started and had our family reunion and some fun time and yet another cooling season there with our boys in Genting Highlands, Malaysia.  THEN we rushed home to have our several reunion sessions and visiting. Mum-in-law flew in from USA to join us for this year’s Lunar New Year celebration but ended up with a bad fall:( So, mum-in-law was rushed to hospital (fortunately she is feeling better now). THEN we had to rush through our children’s huge pile of homework and then rushed back to office again.

[The official Lunar New Year holidays in Singapore this year is only first three days. I am also wondering why can't the boys be spared of the huge piles of school homework ...for once...even on special occasion? We could not really enjoy our overseas trip and Lunar New Year celebration without remembering that "Hello, Brendan has to finish his countless school homework before he returns to school."]

So, it is really “RUSHING”, right? *haiz*.

We are planning more Lunar New Year visiting over this weekend.  For now, here are the happy moments that we had just a week ago at Genting Highlands, Malaysia…just the four of us, finally having a peaceful time without being disturbed by work:)
