Driving
It has been a year since I became the proud owner of my own car. Have decided that amongst some of the things that can’t be shared with husband, one of them is CAR. Yes, especially when car is like the “second wife of man” *wink*.
Frankly, I am never excited about driving. In fact, I dread driving. The “fear” of my car accident a few years ago still lingers *frown*. I am sure most drivers will agree that driving actually needs much concentration, confidence and skill. Given the choice, I prefer to be driven. However, as we start having young kids, DRIVING becomes more necessary and time-saving. It is useful for mommies to know how to drive especially when daddies are busy at work.
[So, this is another instance of how our kids can give us the motivation to do things that we dread and fear most - I guess.]
As for my young boys…….. toy cars, arcade simulation driving and driving of bumper cars never fail to fancy them.
Brendan has been very good in his sense of directions and map reading since young. So, he is like our human GPS sometimes……*Grin*.
Darren has been most encouraging too whenever I drive and volunteers in asking me to take a back seat so that he can drive for me. In a way, the boys have been a great help - even though they cannot drive *smile*.
How I wish……. driving is as simple as what Darren claims to be “just turning the steering wheel” *LOL*. Perhaps, he thinks that driving a real car is like driving his favourite bumper cars.
How I wish ……. the boys could finally be of the age group to qualify for the driving tests and take over the driver seat from me. At least for this aspect, I am gladly counting down.
Well, I certainly enjoy being driven by Papa Ed now, more than driving personally. Driving can be such a chore……
So, MOMMIES, DO YOU ENJOY DRIVING?
i prefer to be driven, too,. i love to drive sometimes only
i can’t say that i dislike driving. but there are time that i really wish that somebody else is behind the wheel instead of me. driving a manual car and get stuck in the traffic jam is really tiresome.
Soon before you ever knew it, they will driving you around Denesa :)
I don’t drive myself. I learned to drive in college but the traffic just discouraged me. Now I take the taxi everywhere :)
Hehe..your younger looks like a real grown up…:)
My daughter loves these cars too. It´s where she likes to spend her money when fairy comes to town.
Regards, Mizé
If I’m shopping, I prefer to be driven. But going to work and driving my son to school, I enjoy doing that. I drive an automatic and I’m 30minutes away from the office.
Ji Judy, I agree that it’s useful to drive. Driving to shop can be a headache esp when we have to circle the carpark for a long while waiting for an available lot and when the charges are high.
Hi Mize, I guess kids like this driving activity because of the fact that they can finally take control over the steering wheel and the car is moving! *LOL*.
Hi Jellybelly, it is usually more comfortable to take the cab..for comfort of relaxing and sleeping….haha
Hi VS, yes…..I am waiting for that day…but not if they are gonna drive the “bumper”car standard. No one will look forward to that “BUMP”and “HIT” like how they drive bumper cars *LOL*.
Hi Mama Mia, I understand that changing gear trouble when driving a manual car…That is why I drive an automatic instead.
Hi Mel, so we have company….
To kids, driving will always seem so simple. It is amazing when they finally grow to learn that it involves a lot more. I am very comfortable driving. However, that does not mean that I do have times that I can get scared. Most of the time it is semi-trucks and bad weather conditions that I fear more than my driving capability (one of my former jobs, I drove heavy equipment in a warehouse, so I had to be able to at least drive well to some extent.)
By the way, I work as a virtual assistant of The Healthy Moms ( http://www.thehealthymoms.net ), the site is fairly new and I thought I would drop by some mom and health related sites to spread the word.
