Mid-Autumn Festival 2010
Mid-autumn festival is just round the corner.
Places in Singapore like Chinatown and Singapore River are dressed up for the festival. The brightly-lit giant lanterns as decorations are really quite an awesome sight at night.
It is also the time when we show our relatives, elderly, friends and business associates that they are still in our thoughts - with our gifts - that is “Mooncakes”.
[Oh yah, we had a quite an experience too tasting those varieties of non-traditional mooncakes now in the market. From the traditional to those with fruits, nuts, chocolates, yam, ice-cream, champagne as ingredients....My personal fave is still the durian snowskins, though I bought an assortment of snowskins with different fruit ingredients for ourselves *hee*]
With several mid-autumn events held here, I make sure that my boys do not lose touch with the purpose of this Chinese Festival by joining in the atmosphere of the celebration together with the others:)
As for schools, the pre-schools organise mid-autumn celebration programs and the primary schools also get the students to self-make their lanterns and display them in schools.
Our little Darren, for the first time, has his attempt on his school’s lantern making project with Papa Ed.
[Hee...mommy can take a backseat now as Papa is usually the more creative one when it comes to artwork]
This is the spirits! Having fun while at work! Hehe.
Making his own lantern has made the process more meaningful and most importantly our Boy is proud of his artwork and project with Papa:)
