Our boy has turned 12 years old today.

Happy Birthday, my boy. We love you and hope all your wishes will come true:)

We are are glad that Papa Ed flew back on time from overseas assignment to celebrate with us and brought home more birthday gift for Brendan.

Papa Ed brought home a story book in addition to the two boxes of  gifts that we have already given Brendan and birthday boy also received ang paos and many sessions of delicous meal treats. Hehe…the non-birthday members got our gifts too from Papa…a bottle of perfume for me and stationery items for Darren:)

In a mother’s eyes, our beloved son will still remain a child, enjoying his sweetest 12…

What makes a birthday celebration memorable for our family?

No, It’s not the gifts. It’s not a mega-sized birthday party.

But the company, the efforts to set aside time for one another to celebrate together and the entertaining moments that always amuse our boys. Hehe! Papa Ed never fails to surprise our boys with his dance moves and now the silent drama:) Family members coming together to plan the celebration programme makes both our boys look forward to organising all these programmes every year.

Dances during Brendan’s birthday celebration that bond our family to shake together and have a really good laugh. We have little time for rehearsals together but enjoy the dance most anyway with all the impromptu moves:)

A hundred cranes…..never-ending well-wishes for Brendan….These cranes, folded by Darren and mommy for Brendan, not only usher in luck but create a cheerful and colourful sight in my bedroom cum Brendan’s study area.

Shortened School Holidays

Now, I like school holidays as much as young kids because it means less “rushing” and less “multi-tasking” for me.

Unfortunately, it is only half way through the brief one-week school break and Brendan has already started lessons in school.  He spent his brief school holidays completing many school worksheets and gearing up for the PSLE preparation.  His June school holidays was also shortened as his Primary 6 level started school lessons earlier than other students.

How I wish Brendan could be given this precious one-week school term break to really “freshen up” from the recently over Primary 6 Preliminary examinations and recharge for PSLE examinations round the corner INSTEAD of having a shortened school break.  His tutors are also requiring him to attend extra lessons during this crucial month.

[I didn't recall so much pressure being placed on me when I sat for my PSLE more than 20 years ago.]

My poor boy:(

How he wished to be able to enjoy his school holidays like Darren

Has PSLE put too much pressure on the schools and tuition centres and SO… also on the kids? Everyone seems to be squeezing as much time as possible from our boy.

Haiz… Is this the typical stress of a Primary 6 student or the pressure of  our boy being in a local top school?

How nice if our boys were borned 20 years earlier because the PSLE fever was seriously less infectious then.

Son, bear with it one more month. This will soon be over. JIAYOU!:)

To Teachers : With Heartfelt Thanks

What’s a better way to express HEARTFELT THANKS to Teachers?

Hmmm….Achieving good results?  Be well-behaved?

And of course…

To make it more meaningful and instead of buying gifts, that is to make handicrafts or cards or bake for teachers during Teacher’s Day.

This year, we decided to put our origami skill to good use:)

Here’s some simple artwork from our boys to their teachers. We spent many hours making 8 pieces of artwork altogether.

The effort is worth it especially when our younger boy came back saying: “Teacher put the duck we have made beside my face and said “SO CUTE! IT LOOKS LIKE YOU.” *lol*

Well. If I were a teacher, my heart will melt when I receive these cards with HEARTFELT Thanks.

TO ALL TEACHERS: HAPPY TEACHER’S DAY:)
