Our boys have noble aspirations to become a Police (for Darren) and Lawyer (for Brendan).

Do I hear a commonality here?

Yes! Both wish to maintain law and order, in their own ways, through their own ambitions.

Then, Darren thought to himself  “How then can Yuki (our little puppy) not have any ambition too?”

Darren: “Mommy, what does Yuki want to be?”

Mommy:”Err….*scratch head* {His question caught me by surprise}.

Darren:”We want to be somebody when we grow up. What about Yuki? What does she want to be?”

Mommy:”Yuki is not like us ..as in she can’t work. I do not know what ’she’ wants to be.”

Darren:”Huh? Is she not bored with nothing to look forward to?”

Brendan: “She longs to be our best friend.”

Mommy:”Gor Gor (elder brother Brendan) is right. Every dog looks forward to its master’s love and company. I believe Yuki aspires to be our best companion and best friend. That is why you must give her attention. Next time, when  you get busy and start to neglect your parents, Yuki will be there for the rest of her life to be mommy’s and Papa’s most faithful companion always.”

Seriously, I do not know what a dog aspires to be for the rest of her life. What I do know is that she will give us her undivided love and definitely looks forward to that great love from us always. At least from her whine during a particular part of the day, we know she longs to be at play everyday.
