Family-Oriented Travel Destination
When friends heard that we had chosen Australia as our travel destination, they started asking :”Why are you going to Australia for vacation when you have been there a number of times?”
[Yeah, we have travelled to some countries a number of times but to us what is important is still the purpose of being there and cherishing moments with the company we enjoy.]
When I was single, my main concentration in Australia was about work and training. I loved the snow ski and winter which I would never have been able to experience in my homeland.
When I went to Australia again with hubby, the trip became romantic and balanced with sightseeing and shopping.
Ever since we have the boys, we began to pick travel destinations that will engage members of the family, especially the boys. Hehe…while we are fortunate to have some stamina left, we do not mind engaging in some active programs with our boys……yes, while we still can *smile*. Knowing that the boys will be super bored if the shopping venues have nothing to attract them, our holiday trips have since been less shopping-oriented.
Now, going back to Australia - this time with two boys- the trip was fun-filled with activity-based and educational programs, and lots of play times. There was less focus on shopping/spa and whatever a woman would fancy but still I enjoyed every bit of the trip with the young ones, engaging in their preferred activities.
The boys never fail to enable us to learn and enjoy life in a different perspectives. Haha…I think I would never have ventured into the totally dark nature reserves late at night or come so close to the wildlife or scale those heights and immerse myself in a different level of enjoyment if I do not have the company of these kids *grin*.
Hehe…I feel younger already, with their lively company, although totally drained of energy and somehow like a baked potato, at the end of the trip *haha*.
So, same country of destination, different cities, different company AND a WHOLE NEW purpose and sensation.
Afterall, it is still about the whole new experience spent with people that we truly enjoy our moments with *smile*.
As for you, have you re-prioritised your travel destinations after you have your children? What kind of activities do you usually look out for when you choose an overseas travel destination with your children?
Looking forward to you sharing your views :)
I totally get you. After all, me & hubby keeps going to one particular country over and over.
My priority and choice of travelling havee changed now that I have a son, of course but essentially it’s going to a place we all love and enjoy. :)
i love to go places with activities for my kids too..
We all have our favorite vacation places. Ours is Bangkok. We keep going back there while some places we went only once.
I like your thought and I am impressed with the tour. I like to travel Greenland its very cold there and very romantic.
Before I have a kid, both me and my husband will go to anywhere we want to go,as long as both of us can enjoy…we will just go.
But now…having little boy, we have to make sure our son will enjoy the holiday trip. Have to set some schedule on where to go and what we will be doing there. We can’t just shop and walk around…must have some activities for our son to join and have fun together.
Our next holiday trip will be to Singapore…wanna bring my son to Sg Zoo,Jurong Birdpark, sentosa and Universal studio.
after the kids came along.
- is destination family friendly?
- is food choice available for kids (nopt too much chili)
- hotel ammenities?
Forget about romantic couple time
- spas
- trekking
- snorkel
Holiday Fun is now around the kids :)
Hi Lina,
Looks like I have company *wink*.
Hi Wenn,
Our kids are happy, we are happier:)
Hi Jellybelly,
Bangkok! Great delicacies and shopping:)
Hi Irshad,
I don’t mind travelling to places during winter. But the luggages are a little heavier though with all the thick winter wear.
Hi Mery,
Look forward to you coming to Singapore. These places of interest in Singapore are places that I frequent personally with my boys:)
Hi Andy,
As parents, I reckon that we tend to have same concerns and put our kids’ interests above ours first. I always remind myself that as long as my kids are willing when they are grown up and as long as I am still energetic, we can still visit other great places (suitable for adults) like Egypt, Turkey….Now, they are most interested in animals, theme parks, rides etc.
BTW, great thoughts from you. Thanks:)
Same here, when we plan for a hol, we’ll be thinking if there’re suitable activities for the kids. Destinations with shopping and/or sight-seeing oni will not be considered. We’re oso not considering winter vacations coz worried they can’t take the freezing type of cold. We feel no matter how we wrap them up, it’s still not warm enuf. :)
