Connect through “kinect”
Our boys received, as a shared Christmas gift from us, what they deemed as the most interactive and fun game they have ever tried. Even a week before Christmas, they were so enthusiastic to try out their new gift. So, this is how the 4 of us became so fascinated by Kinect for Xbox 360 since last week.
Wow! Kinect is really such a great activity to enable “KINS” (of course friends, lovers too) to “CONNECT” *grin*.
Kinect is equipped with a sensor and allows full body play on any ground surface (as long as the distance requirement is met) without any controller in our hand. We like the fact that we can play with bare hands *thumbs up* and it is so convenient to play simply by recognising our body movement and voice.
The slim Kinect equipment
So, all we have to do is to let our body do the motion. We drive. We are into Adventure. We bowl. We play table tennis. We run. We play soccer. We swerve our bodies. We roll. Yay! All these without having to leave the comfort of home. There are many more activities depending on the games played.
So, what game is Bren playing? Papa sitting at the side…waiting for his turn or exercising parental control??
Then it can be serious play
Papa Ed said I made them laugh because I am dancing and flying instead of “gaming” in those tense adventure games. Err…I thought ladies are supposed to be graceful?
Looks who’s talking. Here I have proof of another flying and dancing bird in graceful motion:)
The more we play together, the merrier we’ll be
I cannot believe that the game has tempted me to be so into sports now *wink*. The adult Sports version has enabled me to be engaged in personal exercises and others like YOGA in solitude *hehe*. And what do I have to do when I have two energetic and active young ones and a stronger man as competitors? Of course, I put in my best and want to show the younger ones that it is not about age or gender.
[No wonder my arms and legs are all aching over now. Haha...that is the price of keeping up with these males who are full of zest *lol*.]
At the end, it is not about winning, of course. Most of the activities generate so much laughter and fun. We always like to take a look at our photo snapshots at the end of each activity because we get to see those candid moments of fun and excitement we had together. And we let our video camera do us the service of capturing our candid ugly and fun sights and our clumsy actions can be really funny!
See…what I mean when I say ugly and candid sights. Oops! Mommy seemed more excited than son.
More laughters
What an entertaining way to connect and bond! It definitely makes Papa Ed and I feel younger. Most importantly, it is a form of exercise and enable our brain to concentrate too while staying vigilant in those games.
However, my advice is for parental guidance for young children who are “Kinect”ing. Better to ensure no addiction and no incidental injury as our children can get wild while playing. I made it very clear to our boys that once school starts, there will be scheduled play only. We are also selective over the games that they engage in.
As for me, besides those great times that I spend with our young ones, I enjoy those moments championing Papa Ed to a game of sports or partnering each other in a game against our boys. Strangely, our boys do win us sometimes and that does make them feel GREAT! Haha…I hope to get really toned soon with that body shake and move. At least, it is comforting to know that those energy exerted is burning my unwanted calories *lol*.
[BTW, this is NOT an advertorial for the product.]
Awesome gift! I would like one for myself :P
My kids played at my sister’s house yesterday and they loved it as well especially they have the projector TV which makes it so realistic. However, not going to buy it sooner as they are starting school soon.
wow your having a great moment :) enjoy!! The boys are having fun plus the mother :) hehehe. Merry christmas and happy new year to you and your family
Kid’s toy nowadays are so fascinating. I want to try them myself :D. Blessed Christmas Denesa :)
Hi Michael,
I am sure a projection TV will be much more awesome and real! Well, you can always buy a set and enjoy it yourself first…haha!
I am relying on it to keep me fit. Somehow, I tend to drop out of my exercise session when I get busy and lazy. With this set, there is so much fun and there is no excuse for me to skip any fun in keeping fit –hehe at least for now when it is still fresh to us:)
Hi Silvergirl,
It is one of those ugly moment of mommy when I fight with my kids for that bits of fun..hahaha:)
Hi VS,
Happy New Year! You are still young and I am sure Kinect is definitely ideal for you:) For a thirties like me, I am already having so much fun:) However, fun tends to be more when we play as a team.
So, this is Kinect. Hv heard abt it but din know the specs. Body movement n voice recognition — interesting! I love this kind of games whr the kids (n adults) need to move abt n not jes sit n stare at the screen at close range. We hv Wii (with Wii Fit pad) but sad to say I’ve not been utilising much of the “exercise” function nowadays. :p
Hi Slavemom,
I haven’t tried Wii before but heard that it needs a controller.
