Kids’ Carefree Life - The Wonderful Moments in Life

How many of us actually remember or were told by our parents those carefree moments of our young childhood days? My memory is blank for the first 7 to 8 years of my life although Papa Ed tells me that he could recall things that happened even in his early 5 years. Perhaps, every human’s memory bank is different.  All I have of my youngest childhood memory now is based on some pretty serious photos that were in our old house and not so colourful memories that my mum shared with me. Yah, I was actually robbed of a necklace from my neck when I was about 3 years old and I was punished in my pre-school when I intentionally pulled a chair away, while my classmate was unaware, and she was sitting on the floor in the next minute, but through a heavy thud on the floor….she fell. Those formed part of my naughty and not so pleasant childhood moments that were ever shared with me.

With today’s technology, parents not only can capture memories of their kids’ precious moments through hard and digital photo album, video, blog and even through shared photo albums like flickr, share a pic and photo bucket. These photos and videos will form a nostalgic memory for our kids next time, and then a memory to treasure and share with their own kids.

These wonderful carefree life of kids are something that we could probably look back and let our children enjoy while they can. Being children are simply amazing and fun. No worries to live a carefree life or worry about how others think and look at us when we behave naturally, no worries not to be given a chance when we make mistakes, no worries to be made a laughing stock and simply be “HAPPY Go LUCKY”.

As I wish I could have a chance to know more about my wonderful memories in my youngest days, I have not forgotten to capture the precious, naughty and laughable moments of my kids. Here are some candid shots and carefree moments of my youngest darling, Darren.  Perhaps, he will  look back at these early days one day, have a good laugh and appreciate his fun loving and bubbly nature.  If we adults were to behave this way, we will probably have a lot of black and unbelievable looks, staring at us!

Scenario 1: We were at a restaurant and Darren definitely loves this long bench concept in the Japanese restaurant. While I was busy with my eyes glued onto my notebook, Darren was gone from my side. So where was he? He had in fact crawled along the benches to other diners’ sides so many times and snuggled right besides them. It is wonderful to be a kid isn’t it because if we were to behave this way, what would have happened?

Scenario 2: The scene in the movie “Night in the Musuem 2″ has just started. Bearly a few minutes, Darren has gone “Haha..Hei…hei…hei…”. The laughter was loud and clear. Then just when the cinema was silent with only voices from the speakers, out of the blue, Darren bursted out loudly ”Hahahaha…Hei…hei…hei..hei”. This time even louder and clearer. I looked at Darren, wondering what was so funny as he continued laughing and also making Brendan broke into laughter and then I stared at Papa Ed feeling embarrassed. Then I though, why restrict  the kid when he was laughing really aloud and he was simply very happy. The amazing power of laughter is that you can affect people and make people laugh too! Cos within seconds, people sitting behind Darren broke into laughter ….am sure it is not due to the movie scene but cos of Darren! Anyway, all have a good laugh and that is what matters right?

Scenario 3: Darren was really enjoying his pasta. Even though we told him about the big blob of tomato sauce around his mouth, he did not want to be disturbed in the midst of his yummy meal to clean off the unsightly stain. Best thing about being a kid is nobody bothers to laugh even when the dirty mouth remained unwiped.

So the story is …. at the end of the day, we should just let the kids enjoy being natural and be happy.

Time for a LAUGH……………

Papa Ed was reading along with Darren. I was sitting opposite the table enjoying free story and father’s and son’s intimate reading moments.

Papa Ed read:”…………………. A sack of rice……………..”

Darren read: ”……………………..A sexy girl…………………”

Papa Ed and my eyes widened.

Together, we asked Darren:”Can you repeat what you say?”

Darren continued but this time shyly:”Sexy girl.”

We were surprised how he read “A sack of rice” as “Sexy girl”. Upon further questioning or perhaps teasing, Darren went really shy (this is unusual of my fun-loving boy to be shy) and he did not explain how he made out the word as “Sexy Girl” or how he got to know these words. We gathered eventually that probably he learned it from classmates or friends or TV programme. Aiyo, it is probably guy’s nature to go over-reactive when it comes to sexy girl but how can my young 5 year old have such shy response when it comes to these words at his age and worse……. to pluck it from the sky when he was in the midst of reading “A sack of rice”?

While mystery remained unsolved, we had a good surprise and laugh anyway because his expression was reaaaaaaal cute!
