One Fullerton, Singapore River

We made our way to One Fullerton at Singapore River on a recent Saturday, hoping to see “any floating or drifting around” displays for Singapore National Day (NDP) 09 and also the fireworks, after our failed attempt at Marina the other Saturday.

It was a windy night and the venue was already filled with crowd when we reached there before the sky turned dark. Since we were early, I decided to share the history of the Merlions with the boys.  Apparently, Mother Merlion and Baby Merlion are the significant icons at the Singapore River while Father Merlion is proudly guarding the Sentosa Island.

The night was really beautiful and in a distance stood the lit up Singapore Flyer and also the colourful floating stage where many Singaporeans gathered to watch the rehearsal of NDP 09.  Like others, the boys and I did not want to miss the beautiful scenes and hence it was a photo-taking session.

The crowd does not seem to be afraid of H1N1 spread. Haha...even Papa (in green striped shirt) was squeezing among the crowd to capture the photos of the boats!

What caught our eyes were the white lit up boats on the Singapore river and the brightly lit up and huge- sized boat lanterns in the sky! However, the best has yet to come.  We were really lucky to find a good spot at the bank of Singapore River where the fireworks were let off right before our eyes, with no blockage of views at all! The sound was loud but the views were magnificent! There were much screams and claps amongst the crowd. I managed to capture and also took video of the awesome views and we went home happily as it was an awesome experience for the boys, although Darren was quite afraid of the loud sound of the fireworks at first.  The boat and fireworks display can still be viewed on 1st and 9th August.

Hmmm….seems like watching fireworks as a family has become a routine in our lives every year during the eves of NDP and also Chinese New Year.

Not just fireworks - but fireworks with heart shapes:)
