Assurance

It has been a while for Darren to ask the same questions everyday when we dropped him at school.  We guessed it is assurance that he is trying to get.

Each day, he will ask when we will fetch him although the reply is always the same – he wants assurance that we will be bringing him home.

Next, he will ask how many of his classmates have reached school – probably as an assurance that he is not alone and his friends are already there for him.

Then, he will wave endlessly at the gate until our car is driven out of sight – an assurance that we acknowledge his presence and will fetch him home.

It has become habitual till the teacher is sometimes there to provide the standard answers on our behalf *oops*.

I am not sure whether I behaved the same way when I was young but Brendan definitely needs the same assurance too as he will always ask me whether I will come home whenever we are out without him and also asking me what time I am home everyday. Repetitive as it sounds but the assurance makes them at ease, I guess.
