Sweets
Darren:”Mummy, can you tell me where you hide the sweets?”
Mummy: “Hide means I don’t want you to find them, darling.”
Darren:”Huh! Why you don’t want me to find them?’
Mummy:”Why do you think I don’t want you to find them then?”
Darren:*Pause* “Because later my teeth spoil?”
Mummy:”That’s right! Eating too much sweets will cause your teeth to decay.”
Darren:”What is decay?”
Mummy:”Spoil.”
Darren:”But I going to brush teeth soon and I eat sweet now, my teeth will not spoil.”
Mummy:”Err………… <wordless> *Such a smart boy*
Then Darren went around still searching for his sweets…..Obviously, he was not giving up. Such a sweet and smart little boy *wink*.
Then a few days later, we were in the car. I rewarded Darren with a sweet for being a good boy.
Darren:”Can I eat the sweet in school, mummy?”
Mummy:”Check with your teacher, darling.”
Darren:”Meaning I can eat it in school?”
Mummy:”Check with your teacher but do not eat early in the morning or before your meals.”
Darren:”Why cannot eat in the morning and before I have lunch?”
Mummy:”It is not good for you.”
Darren continued his topic of sweets for almost the whole journey……………
Then when I fetched him in the evening, he again insisted to have the sweet. He pestered till Papa Ed surrendered. Sweet does the wonder of keeping a child QUIET and PACIFIED.
He sure is persistent, isn’t he? LOL
Very persistent in fact!
today’s kids are surely smart. If we say “no”, they will ask why? and the questions will go on..
