Joining the Kite Flyers at West Coast
A few weeks ago, we joined the kite flyers, during the Kite Festival at West Coast Singapore. Due to the over-whelming response, the place was packed like sardines! The only open area, available to have a decent kite flying experience, was very crowded and so we made our way to the spot just next to the beach.
We started our day with a GOOD LAUGH because barely within 5 minutes, our string was already entangled with that of another kite! So you can imagine, the next few minutes, Papa Ed having to resolve the string puzzle and then just to realise that our kite was gone forever…being caught at the top of a tree! Hence, after the struggle with the string, we bidded farewell to our kite. Fortunately, we have prepared another kite and the boys did have some fun, soaring the kite high in the sky!
It was really a splendid sight as it was the first time in my life to see so many tiny kites faraway in the sky, in different designs and colours, and people of all age groups enjoying ourselves together. While waiting for a friend and his family to arrive, we got an extra BONUS because…. TADA ….right before our eyes was the beautiful sunset at the sea.
Though the beginning started in an unexpected manner, we were still fascinated by the view. Hope that subsequent event can be held at a bigger and more convenient venue though, to avoid such a crampy experience and string cutting experience *HAHA*
Totally agree that the ’small’ space is not ‘big’ enough for such a crowd. The old Marina South is such a better choice, then again, that’s history already.
West Coast Park is one of our favourite hangouts and yes, the sunset is gorgeous!
wow..it must be fun..

Hi Danesa, do you know how to fly a kite? My auntie has bought my girl one but I still thinking whether I have the skill in flying it, hehe.
Anyway, it is a great scene there. I like kites personally.
