First Buying Trip
Everyone has his/her first buying trip. Some start as early as 4 or 5 years old independantly while others might start later.
Recently, I sent Darren to buy some simple and light groceries, escorted by Brendan. I felt that it is time to train him since he is joining the primary school in two months’ time. I prepared a simple list of about 4 items for him and asked him to identify these items at the minimart near my house. Next, he had to pick these items and pay for them, not forgetting the money change.
Of course, I was not so confident to leave the two boys to venture on the first buying trip alone. So I was watching aside, leaving the brothers to cooperate with each other.
The outcome was not too bad because Darren did not end up picking other items. He has the habit of always saying “I want to buy this ..” whenever he is on shopping trip. This time round, he was disciplined. It was so funny at the end because he held on to the $50 note that I had passed to him and was so busy examining it that the Cashier Auntie stood there laughing while Darren reluctantly handed over the money only after a while *SMILE*. It was still MISSION ACCOMPLISHED :)
Brother Brendan was also very funny when I asked him to make payment previously. He was so mindful of having to collect the right amount of change that the first thing he said to the cashier even before he presented the items was “How much are you going to pay me?” The cashier went :” I am not paying you but you have to pay me instead. Then you tell me how much change you will get back.”
These two boys do have their own stories to tell in their first buying trip:)
wow..good experience for the boys..
