It is quite embarrassing to say that we have only recently, when Darren is almost 6 years old, managed to stop putting on diapers for Darren during sleeping time.  Our previous attempt has never been successful as he seemed to have problem getting up to release himself or even timing his frequency in a regular manner.

As a working mother, I got so tired having to wake up in the middle of the night so many times to change bedsheet, his clothes and blanket. Hence, I decided that he could wait and then it dragged and dragged till recently….Besides the diaper cost, I start to realise that some kind of discipline or routine needs to be introduced or we must start somewhere. Thus, we got more blankets, more bedsheets and urine mats.

The first two weeks were tough because before we knew it, he had already wet his bed. I got so tired also having to wake Darren as my maid just zzzz and zzzz without getting Darren to wake up to release himself.  Undaunted by the inconvenience, we started to give him less water just before sleep and have a fix time to wake him up to release himself before it is too late. Then things get better as now our little boy can actually run out of the bed himself although we still make it a point to wake him two hours after his sleep if he doesn’t take the initiative..

Hurray now because no more diapers, less frequency of having to wash his soiled bedsheet and SUCCESS in ONE MONTH!
