Hollywood Dinos
My mom was saying : “Your cousin has gone to the dinosaur event promoted by actor Edmund Chen.” Brendan was reminding :”Mommy, when are we going to the Hollywood Dinos at Jurong Bird Park? It is ending soon in February.” [The event will be on at Jurong Bird Park, Singapore till 21 February 2010].
So, we heard about it. We wanted to experience it. We paid S$44 and we went on an “unguided tour”.
Stepping in with the expectation of walking around interactive and roaming dinos, it did not really happen that way. Perhaps, it is better this way as it could be really “scary for kids” should the dinos start roaming. Well, we were first greeted by the loud cry of a young boy and that persistent cry followed us for half the trip:( [I pity the young boy and mom who have to struggle throughout the whole trip.]
Then, Darren was “running away” from the dinos and especially one that moved abit. Knowing that he is terrified by the dinos, which are few times his size, naturally his fear can be understood. So, throughout the trip, Darren was holding on tight to me or Brendan, sometimes resisting to move in any direction. You can imagine that I have to carry a heavy 20kg boy at some spots. [An advice: it might be good for parents, who have young kids, to share with them what are at the event before going.]
On the other hand, an older Brendan, who has high expectations of adventure similar to that in “Jurassic Park”, was commenting : “Is that all?”. He was echoing our thoughts. However, he gained knowledge as he seriously read through the information of dinosaurs on the boards [This is Brendan. He will usually take educational trips very seriously and read through any notification or information printed.]
Alas, how could the trip be complete for the boys without some souvenirs to bring home? So, as Brendan sighted a “Planet” book at the shop [a topic that has spurred great interest in him recently], Darren was quick to pick his fair share too - a set of dino toys:)
that must be a fun yet terrifying experience for your kids to get up close and personal with the largest and most fearsome creatures they have ever seen.
Wow.. This seems fun.. I’ll be going to Singapore on 31st Jan for a social visit, maybe I can visit this place as well.. Is it opened everyday?
That’s interesting. We had something similar in Tennessee several years ago in an old bus station.
