Goodnight Kiss
Since young, my kids have never felt complete going to bed without getting a goodnight kiss from me. Routine as it may be, I am treasuring every moment of this closeness. There will be a day when the boys grow up and they will no longer like anymore kisses from their parents.
Here is a song “Goodnight Kiss” by Steve and Annie Chapman which really touches my heart. Whether we play the role of parent or once our parents’ child, the lyrics are close to our heart. Enjoy the song!
Lyrics
I count it as a privilege
I count it cause for praise
to kiss my children goodnight
at the close of everyday
for I know too soon they’re off and gone
and walkin’ out the door
and I’ll never have a child to kiss
goodnight anymore
It’s very strange how times have changed
from the present to the past
when did they grow so quickly
the time has flown so fast
for it seems that only yesterday
I helped him with his shirt
or pat my baby on the back
or kissed away a hurt
tell the story read a book
wipe a nose or tie a shoe
they never ask me to rub their back
the way they used to do
once it was a bother
just a troublesome kind of chore
now I would give anything
to do it just once more
mommy bounce me on your knee
daddy flip me in the air
throw a rubber ball to me
and help me comb my hair
mommy tickle my tummy
daddy hold me high
let’s go outside for awhile
or make a kite to fly
I count it as a privilege
I count it cause for praise
to kiss my children goodnight
at the close of everyday
for I know too soon they’re off and gone
and walkin’ out the door
and I’ll never have a child to kiss
goodnight anymore
And I’ll never have a child to kiss
goodnight anymore…
As a parent, this song really touches my heart. The other song that I really liked is Steven Curtis Chapman - Cinderella since I have a little girl
oh I thats sweet!
My Baby loves being woken up to the sound of a “Good Morning Sunshine!” from me. It’s so heartwarming to see her smile which is the only thing that rouses me from my sleep. (Bed sharing going on here, after my hubby leaves for work). Even when these things get routine and somehow lose novelty, they are still the “little things in life” we always treasure!
I have also invented a song that I sang to my boys before they went to sleep when they were young. Sometimes, I would still sing the song to them when they are unable to fall asleep. It is the little bonding time between mother and child and those soothing moments:)
when I heard this song, I replayed it many times because the lyrics are so meaningful…
