Paper Craft : Hong Bao Fish
We keep a fish pond and a fish tank. Obviously, we have a fish lover at home *smile*.
So, when it comes to Chinese New Year decoration, besides rabbits, we made golden Hong Bao Fish too.
We bought some golden packets with fish printing.
If you are making the hong bao fish with kids, they should have no problem folding and stapling.
Interested to make a fish with red packets? Here are the steps. It is quick and easy once you are familiar :)
GUIDE:
1. Prepare 14 red packets.
2. Fold the 14 red packets similarly in this way (fold the 4 corners of each red packet proportionately).
3. Join 4 red packets together with stapler.
4. Prepare another similar set of 4.
5. Join the 2 sets of 4 red packets together with stapler. With this, the body of the fish is formed.
6. Add the mouth, by first piecing together 2 red packets.
7. Add the tail, by first piecing together 2 red packets.
8. Add the top and bottom fins, with a red packet each.
9. We choose to add the eyes too.
We are glad to have chosen a golden fish :)

Happy CNY! :) I loved that you put goggly eyes on your fish, its a great idea!
Hi Ed,
I have to do my very best in order to inspire my little one. That fish is easy to make and so I start with easy ones first …haha!
Hi Jus,
I tend to use that goggly eyes for a number of artworks that I do with my boys. It adds life to the artworks:)
