A Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed
Recently, I was hoping to locate via FACEBOOK a very close childhood friend and another close friend in my teens.
They form very significant memories in my childhood and teenage days.
We have lost contact for 2 decades.
“A friend in need is a friend indeed”.
I have many friends - from childhood friends, to friends that I make in schools, to friends that I make in my career life and to friends whom I make through my social circle.
But I admit true friends are hard to come by.
Somehow, there are only certain friends whom I will feel comfortable to confide in and who reciprocally will be there to show their concerns, care and happiness, no matter “rain or shine”.
Sometimes, we long for the listening ears and advices of our close friends more than that of our family members.
Here is one of those meaningful songs that strike a chord in my heart.
It reminds me of those few true friends who have walked my life with me in my darkest days.
It is real that we get to realise who our true friends are when we survive those storms in life.
To these great friends of mine - Thank you friends, thank you for being there for me although we are finding it hard to meet up often - now that we have our families.

Lyrics of “You’ve Got A Friend”
When you’re down and troubled
And you need some loving care
And nothin’, nothin’ is goin’ right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I’ll come runnin’ to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there
You’ve got a friend
If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you’ll hear me knockin’ at your door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I’ll come runnin’, runnin, yeah, yeah,
to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there, yes I will
Now ain’t it good to know
that you’ve got a friend
When people can be so cold
They’ll hurt you, yes, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don’t you let them.
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I’ll come runnin, runnin’, yeah, yeah, yeah
to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I’ll be there, yes I will
You’ve got a friend,
you’ve got a friend,
ain’t it good to know,
you’ve got a friend,
ain’t it good to know,
ain’t it good to know,
ain’t it good to know,
you’ve got a friend,
oh yeah now, you’ve got a friend,
yeah baby, you’ve got a friend,
oh yeah, you’ve got a friend.
true, not easy to get a sincere friend.
Once a friend, will always be a friend. And real friends are hard to find. When we get lucky to have them, it’s best to treasure them for they are indeed gems.
Hi Wenn,
That’s why we must cherish these true friends around us.
Hi Lainy,
Hey! Gems a good word! Agree:)
