Phew! It’s Over
Finally, PSLE is over. What a relief for the P6 kids…and parents!
Brendan’s last paper ends only today as he takes an additional paper on Higher Chinese. I could feel the atmosphere of joy as the students ran out of the school, some cheering while others laughing away. Our boy’s friends were planning how to celebrate. The mothers were gathered together sharing their moments of joy and relief. Interestingly, mommies looked even happier than their children.
Our boy told me this when I met him at the gate: “Mommy, I can’t resist laughing. I just want to laugh out loud.” His way of putting down the load that has been on his shoulder for months. Frankly, our boy has been loaded with tonnes of school worksheets everyday for weeks and hardly has adequate sleep. I didn’t remember myself being pushed as hard when I was sitting for my PSLE decades ago. One race after another ….P6 prelims, DSA exercise, PSLE….. I am glad we let him skip his piano examinations for a year.
Seeing him finally savouring his favourite Pepper Lunch meal with contentment and at his own pace, I suddenly feel so at peace and really relaxed.
Haven’t had this feeling for a long while. It’s relaxation time till the next race starts again…Enjoy son:)
Now these kids can really enjoy a meaningful Children’s Day.
