Today - World Environment Day and Launch of The Film “Home”
Today, 5th June like many other 5th June, signifies an important date in the world calendar. It is World Environment Day.
“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” ~Native American Proverb.
Hence, for the sake of the environment and for the sake of our children and their future generations, I feel that parents play an important role in setting a good example for our children in practising that Eco Action, not only today but also in our daily lives.
Some eco tips of how we and our children can help protect and contribute to the sustainability of the environment”
1) Turn off the lights and fan when not in use
2) Turn on the fan instead of air-conditioner unless necessary
3) Avoid the use of disposable cups, cutleries and bottles
4) Bring along reusable bags
5) Do not keep water running
6) Do not waste paper and recycle them
7) Turn off the main power switches when not in use
8 Turn off electrical appliances when not in use
9) Many others
It may not be easy to ensure that our kids appreciate the true value of environment at their young age. As parent, I am just putting in a little more effort, to remind and remind my kids and domestic helper and perhaps, posters at home might help.
Today also marks the launch of the much awaited film about the environment, HOME. Do watch it on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/homeproject and at the same time it will also be made available in DVDs and cinemas (at least in France), and it will be shown as a primetime broadcast on France 2.
Directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and produced by Luc Besson (Producer of The Fifth Element), this is the first time that a full-length movie makes its debut both on YouTube and in theaters.
Meanwhile, enjoy the movie trailer.
