Sales and Promotion Fair
Singapore is having its almost two-month long Great Singapore Sales (GSS) now and also a major PC show for the last few days. Discounts could be up to 70%. Just in case I will get crazy over those shoes, dresses, kids’ attires, PC games, gadgets, guys’ attires, branded bags, beauty packages and……., I decided to stay away from shopping centres and save myself from these unnecessary expenses. Even for basic necessities, I also tend to stock them up during the sales season as I always have the mentality that I could multiply the effect of saving by buying more.
As the family expands and kids grow, there is really a need to save for their increased enrichment classes, living and entertainment expenses. So, I urge myself to save. However, somehow, when we hear from others how good the offer is and how good a new series of items are, it is tempting and irresistable right? So, I ended up relenting sometime and not all the time though.
Some good and justified items purchased during this sales season are:
· a live webcam to monitor the kids at home while I am at work <thumbs up>
· a personal computer for Brendan and Darren at last (now they don’t have to wait in the queue while I finish my tasks on my notebook)
· a PC table (to rest the kids’ new PC)
· a new PC monitor since it seems to have better resolution and bigger screen
· a SNGTEL MIO TV HOME package since it offers an attractive bundle price for a home phone line, broadband and mio TV program (with 15 movies per month) and better price for a US TV Thriller Drama package (now the family can watch the latest US TV series without having to wait for the DVD packages to be launched in Singapore)
· 2 latest series of HTC handphones - HTC Touch Diamond 2 (to facilitate my call back to the live webcam since my iPhone 3G is not able to support video call)
· Additional iPhone accessories (while considering whether to pass on the iPhone to Brendan with consideration of the OS3 upgrade on 17 June and release of iPhone 3G (S).
Well, you can see the items somehow are linked to support the kids’s needs in a way or other. Haha, am I trying to make myself less guilty of spending by justifying that it is really needed for others than myself? <wink>. Definitely, I am not doing a promotion of these items. Till then, I really need to keep my eyes and ears shut and resist further buying <chuckle>.
