Long Kang Fishing

Those childhood days that I spent with my cousins catching fish in drains are so memorable. In those days, we did our “Long Kang fishing” along old Tampines Way in Singapore where there were many surrounding fish farms.

Those days were so nostalgic and I can still recall those many colourful guppies that we caught and the experience was absolutely free, with no charges.  Singapore has developed and we can hardly experience those days of natural long kang fishing anymore *sob, sob*. When I came across KID’S KAMPONG at Pasir Ris Farmway, my immediate excitement was to also let my kids experience the fun of Long Kang fishing although the set up was man-made and we have to pay a fee. So they started their shallow Long Kang fishing adventure with a pail and net each.

Hey!  Is fish getting smarter now? It seems that the fish at the KID’S KAMPONG are simply too intelligent and there is no way to catch them with a net. The kids have to exercise teamwork and strategy in order to fill up their pails with fish. Alas, it was a fruitful trip as the kids not only enjoyed the fun time chasing after fish but also managed to catch 22 fish, of course with the help of Papa Ed.  The new collection has now joined the family of fish in our pond.
