Birthday Gift Hunt
Kids love birthday presents and cutting birthday cake. For my youngest boy, blowing the candles of birthday cakes (even if it is other family members’ cakes) has always been enjoyable moments for him.
When it comes to his own birthday, we decorate the house with some balloons and have a simple celebration within the family. He chose his favourite Pokemon cake, coated with popcorns at the side.

We found a confectionary that makes cartoon character cakes. Tada...here we are with Darren's birthday cake - with his favourite pokemon character
This year we came up with an interesting idea of letting him hunt for his birthday gifts by giving him some simple clues. He had a lot of pleasant surprises when he found out that Papa, Mummy and Gor Gor (brother Brendan) had all got him some gifts. The gift hunt was fun for him as he kept saying that he liked it. Brendan had a lot of fun too “planting” clues and hiding the gifts. It will be a joy in future to watch the video clip that we have captured on this “gift hunting”.

Gor Gor Brendan got for little Darren something to piece. These pieces are amazing as they can be assembled into many things like toy cars, trains, flowers and peacocks. Cost really little but encourage creativity in kids, just like Lego.

A good collections from his birthday gift hunt! He got his favourite sweets and also a TOMY car storage set and also track - which he can store the hundreds of small toy cars inherited from Gor Gor Brendan:)
Over at pre-schools in Singapore, birthday kid will usually gives simple presents to his/her classmates ..haha…instead of birthday kid getting the gifts. Darren has got for his classmates a stationery set each. As his birthday fell on a public holiday, we did not prepare any cakes for sharing in his school. However, I am sure Darren will be very happy to distribute the gifts that we have bought for his friends:)
