Drama Series Marathon

Following drama series can be very addictive. I used to follow Korean drama series in the wee hours of the night (at the expense of beauty sleep) and pursuing a beautiful ending is the ultimate satisfaction derived. It is also so touching to see “Snow White” finally having a happy ending with the “Prince Charming”.

Now Papa Ed and I have become such a strong follower of “Ang Moh” drama series and this has become an expensive and addictive hobby as we not only indulge much time in the “drama series marathon”, we also got tempted to spend much money buying the DVDs. There simply are so many drama series that we have followed from “Lost”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Heroes”, “Supernatural”, “Prison Break”, “Smallville”, “Bionic Woman”, “Terminator: The Chronicles of Sarah Conner”, “Office” to “Gossip Girl”. There seems “no end” as we finish one whole complete series of a certain Title just to realize that another Title has a new series now.

This has kept me very busy at least for many wee hours in the last few weeks. Hmmm…why wee hours? Because nowadays the shows are either rated R21, NC16 or M18. The contents are either too violent or unsuitable in other ways for kids’ eyes. As parents, we often have concerns over our kids interpreting the wrong things from scenes of the shows or imitating the actions.

To cite an example, Darren has been busy with his gongfu actions and wildly punching and kicking around after watching “The Street Fighter” in the cinema. As parents, while trying to be careful over our kids learning the wrong things that are not meant for their eyes, I guess we can only indulge ourselves in our drama series only late at night.
